What is the news?

• Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar honored the state police with the ‘President’s Color’ award, which was received by the Director-General of Police Sanjay Kundu at a ceremony organized at the historic Ridge here today.

 

Important Fact:

• It was the 8th State Police of India that won this distinction.
• The Indian Navy was the first of the Indian armed forces to receive the president’s color on 27 May 1951 by Dr Rajendra Prasad, then president of India.

 

About President Colour:

• ‘President Colour’ is a special achievement and this proves the state police ranks high in the service of humanity along with performance, professionalism, integrity, protection of human rights and other parameters.

What is the news?

• The government has launched ′′ Chief Minister Ek Bigha Yojana ′′ in the state with the purpose of strengthening the economy of rural women.

 

About Chief Minister Ek Bigha Yojana :

• The Himachal Pradesh government launched Mukhyamantri 1 Bigha Yojana in order to empower rural women.
• In this program, the state government will empower 1.5 lakh of rural women by helping them become independent and find employment through MGNREGA. This HP Mukhyamantri 1 Bigha Yojana will boost the rural economy due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

 

Important:

• In this new HP Mukhyamantri Ek Bigha Yojana 2021 of the government, around 5,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will reach out to 80% of rural households who have some land.
• HP Mukhyamantri 1 Bigha Yojana is associated with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) of the central government.
• The women of the state who have land up to one bigha can prepare backyard kitchen garden to grow vegetables and fruits.
• Here, a kitchen garden can be made for a woman or her family living on a bigha of land.

 

Benefits:

1) Women will get the benefit of the scheme.

2) The beneficiary of this scheme will help the women of the state to get employment under MNREGA.

3) Rural women will get employment.

4) 1.5 lakh rural women of the state will be benefited under this scheme.

5) Women will get training under the scheme.

6) Himachal Pradesh 1 Bigha Yojana will not only ensure nutritional security for the family, but will also generate additional income.

7) HP Mukhiya 1 Bigha Yojana is linked to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) of the central government.

8) Under the scheme, women will be helped to become self-reliant.

9) Women of the state can also get an annual cash incentive of Rs 1 lakh under the one bigha scheme.

10) This includes wages of Rs 198 per day. After every 15 days, women’s salary will be transferred to their Aadhaar linked bank accounts.
