  • Apply online for Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme till 31.

  • Ex-servicemen and their dependents.

Eligibility:

  • The mandatory educational qualification for the scheme is 12th pass with at least 60 percent marks.
  • Eligible people can apply in the first year of professional course only.

 

About Scheme:

  • Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) under the aegis of the National Defence Fund, was introduced from the academic year 2006-07.

 

Purpose:

 

  • To encourage higher technical & professional education for the dependent wards & widows of Central Armed Police Forces & Assam Rifles (CAPFs & AR) Personnel.

What’s the news?

  • CM addresses 37th Foundation Day of Dr. Y.S. Parmar University.

 

Key points shared by CM:

1) Himachal Pradesh has made splendid progress in the field of horticulture, as it has emerged as a potential factor to boost the agricultural economy.

2) Horticulture account for about 33 percent of agricultural production and annual business of apple alone was more than Rs. 5000 crore.

3) The role of agriculture and horticulture in employment generation, nutritional security, poverty alleviation programs is becoming increasingly important.

4) University has been ranked ‘A’ grade in Atal Innovation Ranking released by the Union Ministry of Education and also ranked 11th in the ranking of Indian Council of Agricultural Research affiliated Agricultural University.

5) The State Government has also established a College of Horticulture and Forestry in Thunag area of Mandi district.

6) State Government has also been provided a grant by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank under the Horticulture Development Project and Indian Council of Agricultural Research for Rs. 25 crore Institutional Development Scheme.

What is the news?

  • CM inaugurates an artificial limb transplantation camp at the state level in Shimla.

 

Purpose:

  • The State Government would take steps to start the facility of providing artificial limbs in the IGMC Shimla for which adequate training would be provided to doctors and other staff so that needy in the State were not deprived of this facility.

Who organized this?

  • State Social Justice and Empowerment Department with cooperation of Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti-Jaipur.

 

About Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti :

  • Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti was established by D.R. Mehta in 1975 for the welfare of the specially abled and since then this Simiti has been continuously engaged in the service of the handicapped and has emerged as a large organization in the world working for specially abled persons.

  • Nishad Kumar of Una has won silver medal in this Olympics(special Olympics the physically challenged youths of the country).
  • Another girl, Arunima Sinha of Uttar Pradesh despite losing her one leg in an accident, conquered mighty Mount Everest.

  • The State Government has started Sahara Yojna to provide financial assistance of  Rs 3000 per month to family with the chronically ill patient.

What is the name of the Scheme in the news?

  • Atal School Vardi Yojna.

Cabinet approved the purchase of school bags for more than three lakh of public school students throughout the state under the “Atal School Vardi Yojna” at Rs 9 crore.

 

What classes did that include?

  • Procurement, supply and distribution of school bags for classes 1st, 3rd, 6th and 9th.

 

Who will distribute?

  • This will be done on the basis of e-tender by HP Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. for 2020-21 from L-1 bidder Highspirit Commercial Ventures Private Ltd.

Few More Highlights:

First:

  • Draft Electric Vehicle Policy to Promote Sustainable Transportation System to Make the Himachal a Global Hub for Electric Mobility Development and Electric Vehicle Manufacturing.
  • The effort will also be made to privatize electric vehicle charging infrastructure, in addition to subsidizing and encouraging electric vehicle manufacturers.

 

Second:

  • Himachal Pradesh (Establishment and Regulation) Bill, 2021, in the Assembly for setting up Sardar Patel University at Mandi.

 

Third:

  • The Cabinet has decided to implement “Swaran Jayanti Paramparagat Beej Suraksha Avam Samvardhan Yojna”.
  • The Cabinet also gave an ex post facto authorization to the Medswan Foundation to operate and maintain 108 and 102 ambulances and call center services for four years.

 

What is Ex post facto?

  • Ex post facto is Latin for “from a thing done afterward”. Approval for a project that’s given ex post facto—after the project already has been begun or completed—may just have been given in order to save face.

 

  • It also gave its nod to reduce the stamp duty to Rs 10 on the hypothecation agreements for the loan sanctioned to street vendors, rehriwala, etc. Under the PM Seva Nidhi Scheme.
