What is the news?

• One year five work campaign started by the government to speed up the development works in the Panchayats of the state.

 

About Eak Saal Panch Kaam (One Year Five Work) Campaign:

• Some works have been suggested to the Panchayats in the preamble of Ek Saal-Panch Kaam Abhiyan, such as Community Irrigation System, Solid Waste Execution Plant, Panchavati Park, Gym, Gramin Bhandar, Self Help Group or Aajeevika Bhawan, Model Anganwadi Center, Stadium, Roadside Public facilities, Mokshadham, liquid waste management and restoration of ponds etc. are included.

Importance: Himachal HPAS Prelims

 

What is the news?

• District Hamirpur has received District Good Governance Index-2020 i.e. District Good Governance Index first prize for doing commendable work in various parameters.
• Deputy Commissioner Debashweta Banik received this award from Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur during a function organized at State Secretariat Shimla on Tuesday.
• The district has received an amount of Rs 50 lakh as the first prize.

 

Last time:

• Last year, Hamirpur got the third prize, but this time the district has secured the first position by performing brilliantly in 19 major areas, 7 themes and 75 parameters and indicators set by the state government.

 

Bilaspur district stood second and Kullu district third under Good Governance Index.

 

Who prepared the report?

• The report on District Good Governance Index has been prepared by Department of Economics and Statistics, Government of Himachal Pradesh on the basis of secondary data of 12 districts, collected on broad 7 Themes, 19 focus subjects and 75 indicators to assess the comparative performance of all districts Himachal Pradesh is the first State in the country who has started to measure the quality of governance in vital sectors. Chief Minister also released an updated version of ‘Handbook on Personnel Matters-2021’.

What is the news?

• Special campaign to sensitize people on the importance of mother-child health: CM Himachal.

Who organized this?

• Workshop on  Poshan and Cooperative Federalism organized by NITI Aayog and Government of Himachal Pradesh.

 

Important points shared by CM:

• Doubling of Iron Folic Acid for pregnant women due to the efforts of the State Government has resulted in better anaemic scenario in the State.
• He also appreciated the State Government for its achievement in Matri Vandana Yojna.
• He said that the State has progressed well in health and education, but the anemia problem remains a matter of concern. He also felt the need for launch special campaign on Low Birth Weight infants, aim at zero diarrhea deaths with ORS, Zinc by 2024.
• He said that ‘Jan Andolan for Poorak Ahaar’ and intensify ‘Anemia Mukt Himachal’ mission was the need of the hour. He also felt the need to make State TB free by 2023-24.
