What is the news?

  • In a crucial economic condition due to pandemic, Himachal Pradesh was able to grab the seventh position in ease-of-doing-business 2019, in pan India, yet due to lockdown, decreased demand and production.

 

Major Contribution:

  • Attributed the performance measures like online approval for Section 118 cases, reforms in labour law, strengthening of the single window system, effective use of CM Helpline 1100 and easy availability of land for potential entrepreneurs.
  • Industrialists wanting to invest in the state were provided with early approval without any hindrance.
  • The successful implementation of easy-to-do-business standards reduces the number of offices and makes the system more transparent.

 

The Government’s Next Economic Action:

  • The Himachal government has requested the Centre to set-up one Mega drug bulk park, as the central government is in an active mode set up three Mega drug bulk park in India for Rs 13600 crore.

 

Where in Himachal Pradesh?

  • Una District.

 

Pharma independence is also the objective:

  • India is dependent mainly on China for pharmacy raw material and pharmacy active ingredients. India’s relationship with China has been in the shadows since May 2020, due to Chinese PLA encroachment on Indian territory. To rid itself of this dependency, the Indian government plans to open three mega-parks of bulk medicine and end the uncertainty in supplies.

 

How this Drug bulk Park will benefit?

  • If the central government approved the mega drug bulk park in Una district, it will be an economic boom for the state economy, new employment opportunity to the Himachalis in particular and will also attract other industrial units to invest in Himachal.

  •  The climate is dry, cold and harsh, overcast with snow, inaccessible during the winters.
